Founded in 1980, the Dublin Marathon has become a major fixture on the Irish running calendar. The Dublin Marathon: 40 Years of Running marks the 40th running of the marathon this year. Written by Sean McGoldrick, sports journalist for the Sunday World and multiple-time-marathon runner, it is introduced by Dick Hooper, three-time Olympian and winner of the very first Dublin Marathon back in 1980. Join author Sean McGoldrick, race director Jim Aughney and Dick Hooper as well as Mary Nolan Hickey, a woman who has run every single marathon since its beginning for an evening of memories, stories from some ‘ordinary’ runners and insights into this much-loved Dublin institution.
