Dance2Connect is a 3 day Street Dance Festival, comprising of an evening of Dance Theatre (Friday), dance ‘Battles’ (Saturday) and Workshops with Internationally acclaimed artists (Sunday). The festival is the first of its kind in Ireland, inviting audiences to view and learn from some of the most exciting dance artists working today. With an emphasis on creating a platform for emerging choreographers, intergenerational exchange, inclusion and diversity, the festival offers a number of different opportunities to get involved. Experimenting with live electronic musicians, videographers, DJ’s and dancers, Dance2Connect aims to open creative doors for young people in South Dublin and beyond.
The festival is a partnership with Tallaght Community Arts & Civic Theatre, supported by Arts Council Ireland Festival Funding, South Dublin County Council and in association with NOISE Moves Dance Festival. This 2018 festival includes mentorship LAB programme at DanceHouse, funded by Dance Ireland.

THEATRE NIGHT An opportunity for urban dance artists to present work that may be experimental, cross -disciplinary and unconventional for street dance form. Theatre night is where the true character of each performer emerges and where they get to be vulnerable, performing work that is politically, socially and personally relevant. We have selected 9 short pieces by Irish and international artists to present at 2019 edition of Dance2Connect festival: Rachel Sheil, Ill Hippie Company, Kerim Perthy, Jasmin Saulo, Mickael Riviere, Godson, Human Collective, Tobi Omoteso & Leo Wolstenholme, Jacek Snochowski.

BATTLES Hip Hop Battle where style, rivalry and community exist and evolve. Dancers push the boundaries of their art form using movement, gestures and energy to challenge, communicate and celebrate the culture of street dance. The most athletic and skilled dancers will face each other and the top 8 selected from all participants and have a chance to win cash prizes!!

WORKSHOPS Opportunity to learn foundation and vocabulary of street dance from highly skilled teachers in 4 different styles. 12pm – 1.30pm: Hip-Hop with P-Soul 1.30pm – 3pm: Krump with Godson 3pm – 4.30pm: Breaking with b boy Jelly 4.30pm – 6pm: Popping with Paris
