Welcome to our new Marketing Assistant, Stephen Lee!

Exciting news here at the Civic.  We have a new colleague- Stephen Lee joining our marketing team!

Specialising in Digital Marketing and new technologies, Stephen will work alongside our marketing manager to develop and implement our marketing strategies and promote the Civic and our busy upcoming schedule.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and where you are from?
My name is Stephen and I am from Dun Laoghaire in Dublin. I’m passionate about marketing and new technologies and really excited to get cracking here at the Civic. I’ve always had a keen love for the arts which stemmed from my earliest childhood memories with my family. I have a BA in English, Media and Cultural Studies from IADT in Dun Laoghaire and studied Digital Marketing while working in my previous job!

What is your working background ?
I used to work in the hospitality and retail industries. In my last job I was marketing and social media manager for a busy restaurant in Tallaght and from there built up the experiences and knowledge I now possess today.

Have you a particular interest in the Arts?
Absolutely, it’s one of my lifelong passions, I even studied it at college! For me the arts is something which is so incredibly important in modern life. I feel at times the arts can be overlooked by many people in the world due to their hectic lifestyles and this is something I really would love to tackle. It doesn’t matter what form of the arts interests you; for me it is just important to engage with whatever it is in some form or another. The arts should be open to every single person in the world to experience and engage with.

What do you hope to bring to the Civic team?
Creativity, flair and a working knowledge of digital marketing and social media. I really feel it is important to engage with different demographics of people in the medium which they use most. For me social media is a key tool in helping to engage with the youth of Tallaght and South Dublin and getting them interested in the wonderful events here on their doorstep!

What are you most looking forward to about working as part of the Civic team?
Building relationships with new and upcoming artists, playwrights, musicians and helping to get their message out to the public. Also watching the odd show!

What highlight have you picked in the Autumn/ Winter season?
Venus & Adonis by far. Everyone studies Shakespeare at some point in their life and this is one particular piece which I was not massively knowledgeable about. I’m so excited to see it performed through puppetry and narration and to see how the stage is used for the production. The fact that it is part of the 60th Anniversary of the Dublin Theatre Festival is incredibly exciting and I know it will be fantastic to be a part of.

Tell us a random fact about yourself?
If only I was that interesting…
