On Friday 7th & Saturday 8th July, Fred & Alice will be staged at The Civic Theatre, Tallaght.

A quirky love story about 2 amazing mischievous characters who meet in a home. Fred & Alice is a blistering head wreck played at a hilarious pace!  Come see this joyous celebration of individuality.

We had a chat with Cora Fenton, who plays Alice in the play.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Where did you grow up?
Hi.  My name is Cora Fenton and I play Alice in the play and I am also the producer for CallBack theatre.  I grew up on a farm in County Limerick.  My first love was pony riding and was lucky enough to have a pony when I was young.  I am now living back near home on the foot of the Ballyhoura Mountains.  Covid saw me out discovering the mountains and I developed a love of trail running so these days I guess I am doing the exercise rather than the pony although on the very steep bits I would love to swap!

Tell us about your interest in the arts, what’s your background?
I have also had 2 loves, sport and drama.  I did the usual nativity plays when we were in school.  I then did a sport science degree and pursued a career as an Exercise physiologist testing athletes and players for fitness.  I got back in to amateur dramatics with my local drama group and rekindled my love for drama.  I then made the big decision to take a year out from work to study theatre studies in Colaiste Stiofain Naofa Cork and I never looked back.  This led to a second year of study and starting out on this path.  I set up CallBack theatre with John Sheehy writer director of Fred & Alice and here we are today.

Have you been involved in any productions in The Civic before?
I toured the country with a play called Corner Boys back in maybe 2008ish and we played the Civic so I am delighted to be going back there again with our own play.

What can Tallaght audiences expect from this show?
Fred & Alice is a special piece.  It has been so good to John, Ciaran (Fred) and myself for the last 10 years.  We just want everyone to see it because it is so uplifting for us who are involved and for audience members.  We are very proud of this show and we dont take it for granted.  It is beautifully written and it is a joyous celebration of individuality.  It’s hilarious, we guarantee you, you’ve never seen anything like it before.

It is a love story.
You will laugh, see something different, you will also be challenged.
You may fall in love with Fred and Alice. “You will come out with a spring in your step”.

It’s a 5 STAR show, You will feel happy, uplifted, tingly, charmed, emotional, moved.
Fred and Alice want to be treated with respect and you will find yourself rooting for them.
Come to Wembley with us!!!

Tell us a random fact about yourself?
I competed in the pony club games in the RDS when I was 15.  We were winning up to the final day and then everything went wrong!!!!

What’s next for you?
John has written a new play and we will start workshopping it this summer in between touring Fred & Alice. We hope to go into production with it later this year/early next year.
