We are delighted to announce that Anna Newell has been awarded an Arts Council grant of for a nationwide tour of I AM BABA in October 2018. This tour is part of an ongoing strategic collaboration between Anna and The Civic as a co-producing partner. The tour will include more than 100 shows across Ireland in arts venues and health settings, in partnership with the Katharine Howard Foundation.

First commissioned by the four Local Authority areas of Dublin: South Dublin County Council, Fingal County Council, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Dublin City Council, I AM BABA was developed in close creative consultation with more than 100 babies and their adults. I AM BABA is a brand new magical adventure of song, lights and textures for babies aged 0-12 months created by internationally renowned theatre director Anna Newell (www.annanewell.co.uk) and composer David Goodall. Their shows for babies have been seen in four continents, off-Broadway and in every single Sure Start in Belfast. I AM BABA is a show about identity, agency and personhood. For babies. It is performed in a portable performance space that provides a distraction-free environment that neuroscience indicates is the most conducive to engagement for the cognitive processing stage that babies are at.
