Bound is a play set in a brothel in rural Ireland and focuses on the turmoil and inner struggles that four prostitutes face whilst under the unchallenged control of their pimp.
THE CAST :
Alison Fitzpatrick – “Jess”
Alison studied in the Gaiety School of Acting and to date attends workshops with David Scott. She had her first professional role in March 2012 with “Bound”. She is at present working with the Talisman Theatre Company on their musical “Little Red Riding Hood” and on a mini web series with Digital Media called the “Spy Masters Apprentice”. She is currently attending Bull Alley studying Performance Arts.
Caroline Harvey – “Marolyn”
Caroline Harvey trained in Bull Alley Theatre Training Company for three years, which she played a wide range of diverse roles such as; the leading role Deineara in the Greek tragedy ‘The Women of Trachis’, Lady Brockelhurst in J.M Barries ‘The Admirable Crichton’, Frau Haylestrovich in the German Expressionist play ‘Biedermann and the Firebugs’ which she wrote and edited her own scenes and monologues. Her Film credits include; Danielle in ‘The Shadow Boxer’ (short film) directed by Dave O Neill (Winner of Best Newcomer at Underground Cinema Film Festival 2011),, Alice in ‘Loss'(short film) by Paul Scarfe, and Sexy Aisling in the comedy short ‘Song for Philly Byrne’.
Caroline also attended David Scott’s ten week workshop over the summer working on scene studies in the Stanislavski Method and performed at the end of term showcase. She also has been accepted in The Factory’s Screen Acting Programme, and will start training intensively in film this Sept for the year under the guidance of Maureen Hughes, Lance Daly and Kirsten Sheridan. Also one of the co- founders of ‘GlassHammer’ Theatre Company, and is going to be putting on Philip Ridley’s surrealist play ‘The Pitchfork Disney’ which she will be playing the role of Hayley in the new year. She is extremely excited about jumping back into the role of Marolyn and working again with No Tears Productions!
Sharon Skerritt – “Wendy”
Sharon returned to acting last October after a 15 year absence to rear her son and is estatic to be offered the role of Wendy in this production. Since returning she has appeared in 5 student and 3 independent short films and played a garda, a 72 year old women and a credit controller in Scarlet Exchage’s production of Racket in Smock Alley Boy’s School in May this year. Sharon has studied with Filmbase, Terry McMahon, The Gaiety School of Acting and is a member of The Attic.
Fionnuala Gygax – “Angelica”
Fionnuala Gygax is currently studying Drama and Theatre Studies in Trinity College Dublin. She has been a member of the Gaiety School of Acting Youth Theatre Company, Independent Youth Theatre and is now involved in Players, Trinity. She has performed in a large number of productions around Dublin and beyond, in theatres such as the Project Arts Centre, Smithfield Complex, Samuel Beckett Theatre, Sugar Club and Players Theatre. This year she also performed in Amsterdam after being chosen to participate on a 2 week residential performance programme. Fionnuala’s most recent theatre production was From Céilí to C.U.N.t* which was produced as part of the 10 Days in Dublin festival. Fionnuala has starred in a handful of musicals playing roles such as Sandy in Grease, Genie in Aladdin and Cinderella inCinderella. Fionnuala has also performed in a number of short films and recently played the role of Róisín in Crisis Eile, TG4. She is extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to play Angelica in Bound.
Jaye Palmer – “Big Lex”
Jaye Palmer has 30 years acting experience, starting as Gretl in The Sound of Music at age 5. A natural character actress, she has excelled played strong characters such as Katherine in the Taming of The Shrew, Lady Mac and even fell into the typecasting trap as the Evil Queen, Evil Empress and Wicked Stepmother in pantomimes. She is delighted to reprise the role of ‘Lex’ with No Tears, saying that “deliciously dark characters like this don’t come along every day”. 2012 has seen Jaye tour Ireland in ‘Little Red Riding Hood'(her second production with Talisman Theatre), train as puppeteer for an upcoming internationally touring project and cut her teeth in the world of Radio as a presenter with Near fm. As part of the 2012 Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages Festival , Jaye played an hilarious modern day version of Nerissa in ‘The Merchant of Venice’ in The Lyric Theatre, Belfast and was invited back to play Tom Stoppard’s version of Lady Macbeth in ‘Doggs Hamlet, Cahoot’s Macbeth’. Aidan O’Rourke – “Mr. Dolphin”
Having come to acting at 40, Aidan joined Draiocht’s acting programmes in 2010 and 2011. Under the guidance of Liam Halligan he explored his passion for this art form and a whole new world opened. In 2011 he experienced a whole host of interesting roles including a presidential candidate, Martin McDonagh, in “Annex” an independent short, Gerard Walsh (Dir) ; a whistle blower, Major Fletcher Vane in “Reabhloid 1916” for RTE, Laura Ní Cheallaigh (Dir) ; a ghost on the threshold to the after life, Michael, in “Reunion” an independent short, Simon Doran (Dir) and A dying father, in “Little Lamb”, an independent short, Jamie Harty (Dir). 2012 presented further challenges with the role of “Mr Dolphin” in the theatre production of “Bound” Steven Masterson (Dir). As well as dual roles of Mr Bishop (Gangster) and a doomed factory boss in “Arc of Violence” an independent short, Dwayne Timmons (Dir) ; an alcoholic father in “Excessive Drinking, an independent short, Daniel Harper (Dir) and most recently the role of Michael Stoke, a troubled character who confesses to murder, in “Truth” (working title) an exciting and complex 30 minute movie with a three director team of Paul Cambell, Hugh Noonan and Alan Dunne.
Mark Schrier – “Mr. Ralph”
Mark began his performing career working worldwide as a variety comic performer. Favorite theatrical roles include Ernie in “The Shawshank Redemption” , Gaiety Theatre and tour, Crazyface in Clive Barkers “Crazyface”, Sacred Fools Theatre, LA, Billy Bibbit, “Cuckoos Nest”, Stella Adler Theatre, LA, Napoleon Bonaparte, “For the Love of Freedom”, Robey Theatre, LA (Winner NAACP award), Philip in “Orphans” Greenway Court, LA, Uwe Sievers in “The Physicists, Soho Rep, NYC and Stephen in “Line” 14th Rep., NYC. He has appeared in numerous film and tv projects and recently wrapped the feature “Death Waits” and is in pre-production for “Dark Hollow”. He will appear in Stop Kiss at the Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, playing Detective Cole directed by Simon Manahan.
Tim Walsh – “Mr. Harding”
Originally from Dublin, Tim has lived and acted in Swaziland (Southern Africa), Boston, and New York. He won an award “Most Promising Actor” for his first ever stage role as “Bar” in Bar and Ger in Swaziland, Market Theatre, Johannesburg. Tim has trained in acting schools in Dublin on his return to Ireland and also trained in Boston and New York. His favourite roles include “Joxer” in Juno and the Paycock and “Uncle Peter” in The Plough & the Stars. In New York he appeared in Finnegans Farewell Off-Broadway as “ The Mortician”. He also appeared in various other Off-Off Broadway shows. His most recent credits were as Charles Hogan in The Mundy Scheme (Brian Friel) with Tavisstock Arts and Justice O’Byrne for Ceart agus Coir for TG4. Most recently he was seen in short film Alazarin Woods (screened at the Cork Film Festival) where he played a homeless schizophrenic.
Joe McCarthy – “James”
“Bound” will be Joe’s first No Tears Production. On stage since the age of 12, Joe has been involved in a number of theatre productions. His most notable roles include Tadgh in “The Field”, Ray in “The Beauty Queen of Leenane”, Fick in “Balm in Gilead” and made his Dublin debut recently in Irvine Welsh’s “Ecstasy” playing Ally with the No Drama theatre group. Joe’s musical highlights include Buffalo Bill in “Annie Get Your Gun” and Perchik in the “Fiddler On The Roof”. He attends weekly acting workshops with No Drama as well as being a comedy improv performer with the group. Joe will be making his TV debut on the BBC production of “Vexed” in the coming months. He hopes the audience will enjoy it as much as he enjoys being a part of it.
Jason Tully – “Bradley”
Jason is currently a first year Drama (Performance) student at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. Prior to studying at DIT, Jason trained at Limerick School of Acting, Centrestage Theatre School and Spotlight Stage School. Jason also spent Summer 2010 training in London at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and Summer 2009 training in New York City under the direction of renowned Broadway actress Natalie Weiss. Jason is also a member of Histrionics, a Limerick based youth acting group. Over the years Jason has played lead roles in productions such as ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ and ‘Les Miserables’ to name a few. Jason also appeared in the workshop of the Original Irish Cast of the renowned rock musical ‘Spring Awakening’. He has also sang on Ireland AM and Xposé (TV3).
