Tiny- A New Musical will be staged at The Civic on Weds 21 and Thurs 22 Jun. This work-in-progress delightful show is being brought to life, under the creative direction of Sean Gilligan. We had a chat with Sean in advance of the show.

Can you tell us a bit about you? Where did you grow up?
I grew up just opposite coolock village and I still live there – so the total other side of Dublin!

Tell us about your interest in the arts, what’s your background?
My Mam was a theatre director – she actually worked in theatre as a female director in the 1970s and 1980s which is pretty cool. I’ve been performing since I was very young – 3 years of age I believe – when I appeared on RTE as a care bear. The rest is history.

Have you been involved in any productions in The Civic before?
I haven’t been involved directly with any as such. My friend and colleague Rob Murphy does great things here.

What can Tallaght audiences expect from this new work-in-progress musical?
The music is a great mix of rock, pop and musical theatre. I think there’s a song here that will appeal to everyone.

Tell us a random fact about yourself?
I’m obsessed with Lego and I have two beautiful cockapoo dogs – that’s two facts!

What’s next for you?
I teach vocals and drama in the College of Dance so it is their showcase which is next on my agenda. Following that I’m directing Shrek which will be staged in the Helix in August! I’m a busy boy.
