The internationally-renowned comedian David O’Doherty comes to Tallaght in early 2013 as part of his newest tour ‘Seize The David O’Doherty’. The Dublin-born stand-up will ply his unmistakable trade of surrealism and musical comedy at The Civic on Saturday February 2nd.
O’Doherty, known to audiences across the world for his electronic keyboard, has lingered on the fringe of the British and Irish mainstream for a number of years now; a handful of awards at the Edinburgh Fringe and the BBC New Comedy Awards were followed by a 2007 TV series ‘The Modest Adventures Of David O’Doherty’ that aired on RTE Two.
Since then, David has become a semi-regular, if somewhat still under the radar, face on British television, making numerous appearances on Channel 4 panel show ’8 Out Of 10 Cats’ and being both a panelist and a guest host of the long-running BBC 2 music/comedy quiz ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’. O’Doherty has also appeared on ‘QI’, ‘Have I Got News For You’ and has also brought his eccentric brand of whimsy to the US, via ‘The New York Stand-Up Show’ and an appearance on acclaimed NYC comic Demetri Martin’s 2007 Comedy Central special ‘Person’.
If, like me, you fancy a laugh, then you can book your tickets for David O’Doherty by visiting the Civic Theatre Website or give the box office a call on 01 4627477, it’s open Monday to Saturday, 10am through 6pm. ‘Seize The David O’Doherty’ takes place Saturday February 2nd 2013 at 8pm, tickets are priced at €18 (€16 concessions).
